St James CE Primary School

Welcome!

On behalf of Saint James Church of England Primary School community I extend a warm welcome to you and your child. This website will highlight our vision and priorities in Saint James Church of England Primary School as well as give you information about the everyday running of the school. As a Church of England (controlled) school we have strong links with our local church – Saint James Church of England. Our school Christian values of Love, Respect and Courage underpin all we do and the way in which we do it in.

The school mainly serves the West End Community in which it is situated. We do also have children who come from further afield such as Hedge End, Botley, Mansbridge and Bitterne. We serve many different pre-schools and have strong links with our local ones.

We are currently a two form entry school meaning that we can take up to 60 children into each year group but are in the process of expanding to three form entry with 90 children per year group. These children are aged from 4 – 11, Reception to year 6. We are very blessed with the most wonderful grounds and are most grateful to the School Association for the support in the development of the grounds.

We are an inclusive school. We are happy to accept children no matter what their race, faith or ability. In class we plan to take account of children’s needs as a class, as a year group and as an individual so that all our children receive their National Curriculum entitlement, in the appropriate setting, through a variety of teaching styles.

You, as parents, know your children the best and we strongly believe that the education of our children is a joint venture with you. We look forward to developing strong links with you and maintaining a happy and successful partnership built on mutual respect

We are committed to addressing underachievement and ensuring all our children attain as highly as possible. We do this through the promotion of self-esteem, clear identification of any issues, focused intervention, teaching of learning skills and close working with everyone involved with the individual child.

If you haven’t already had the opportunity of visiting our school, please do so. You will be able to see the school and the children in action. If there is anything you wish to discuss please feel free to contact me and I will be pleased to help in any way that I can.
